My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
physics

Topic I was teaching:
projectile motion

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
I wanted students to figure out:
how mass affected the range of a projectile?
how angle affected the range of a projectile?
how the initial velocity affected the range of the ball?

Course Level:
Remedial

How I/my students used the resource:
While my more advanced students were practicing projectile motion problem solving, I gave my foundational students the worksheets provided to go through some projectile simulations. They could work through these independently.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides access to data sets, Increases data collection & analysis skills, Provides a virtual lab, Provides practice or tutorial, Provides additional content, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
Students could use this resource in a wide variety of ways. It could be an extension (as I used it). It is definitely an inquiry kind of experience. The simulation factor means that the data collected is error free. The worksheets that come with it give you ideas for how to use it. Particularly good resource for schools that have limited physics lab equipment because it allows each student to have an experience.

Weaknesses:
It is almost always better to see something in real world than in the virtual world. It is more believable and better able to combat misconceptions.
