My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Biology

Topic I was teaching:
Genetics

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
The resource provides a convenient method for obtaining and integrating flash videos into a learning activity.

Course Level:
Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
Several flash video segments served to buffer a PowerPoint-based note set and assisted students in developing an understanding of the basics of Mendelian genetics. The resource served as a simple tool to assist in the integration of video within the learning activity.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides additional content, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
The resource is an effective tool for organizing flash-based FLV files stored within the browser cache. The software is effective for utilizing web-based video files in classrooms with limited internet connectivity. The software has been customized for, and is available in, 10 different languages.

Weaknesses:
The software does not provide an integrated FLV [video] player. However, free players are available on the web. Also, if the video is not stored in the browser cache, it will not be available to play without a suitable internet connection.
