My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Physics

Topic I was teaching:
Waves (Sound and Light)

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
I wanted to show students animations of transverse and longitudinal waves, as well as interference. I did not have time for using lab equipment, so I wanted animations that I could go through quickly and cleanly.

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced

How I/my students used the resource:
I showed the students the animations on the smartboard. Links in the class notes allow students to look at them again at home if they wish.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
The basic animations are very clear and good. They become less useful for a class as they get more complex, but students who are interested might find them engaging.

Weaknesses:
You could do something of the same thing with real things (slinkies, dominos, etc.) It would not be as "clean" but it would convince the students more about reality (since one can program a computer to do anything...
