My rating of this resource: **

My experience using this resource:
Physics

Topic I was teaching:
Work and Energy

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
I used the "The RAMP" simulation to look at work and energy in class (to show examples)

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced

How I/my students used the resource:
During our introductory lecture on work and energy I pulled up this applet and we tried various things

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides a virtual lab, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
This is cute and some parts of it work. You can run over people with pianos...

Weaknesses:
We found that the math has some severe flaws in this simulation. It is hard to set up a problem (you cannot just place the thing wherever you want it...) The Work applied graph is not really the work applied, it seems to be the net work... but it does not map well to the force applied on that graph. I ended up saying that the kids could write a letter to the company for extra credit.
