My rating of this resource: *****

My experience using this resource:
physics and chemistry (AP)

Topic I was teaching:
several

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
varies depending on topic, but using the computer to obtain precise data that is easily manipulated and analyzed is the common thread

Course Level:
A.P., Honors or Advanced, Intro or Regular, Remedial

How I/my students used the resource:
Either I printed out the Vernier lab or re-wrote/adapted their instructions to fit how I wanted students to analyze the data after they obtained it

Value Added:
Increases data collection & analysis skills

Strengths:
The Vernier labs are usually very solid. If you purchase their lab manuals, you also receive Word files which they encourage you to duplicate and/or edit for your own use. They are very generous with the published material, since their primary business is the hardware.

Weaknesses:
There is a learning curve for students to become familiar with the Logger Pro software. Vernier's instructions sometimes automate the analysis too much, rather than requiring the students to think about what they are doing.
