My rating of this resource: *****

My experience using this resource:
Physics

Topic I was teaching:
Light as a wave

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
To have students understand wave and the interference of wave as we studied light

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced, Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
The ripple tank allows all things done on a ripple tank to be done on the computer and also allow students to take pictures and descrip what they are seeing. This allows the teacher to know that they have observed what was wanted.
Actual ripple tanks are difficult to know if students are making the observation and seeing what you are seeing. Using this program in combination with a real tank you can assign work outside the class to reinforce their understanding and to let the teacher know if they have the concept down.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases modeling skills, Increases data collection & analysis skills, Provides a virtual lab, Provides practice or tutorial, Provides assessment opportunity, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
Great to have the students able to explore on their own away from the actual tank and to have students able to explore waves on their own.

Weaknesses:
none
