My rating of this resource: *****

My experience using this resource:
Chemistry

Topic I was teaching:
Naming Molecular and Ionic Compounds
Reaction Types
Predicting Products

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
To help students organize, identify, and eventually follow the rules to help them complete the above.

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced, Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
I made a concept map for naming ionic compounds, naming molecular compounds, identifying types of reactions, and predicting products for single and double replacement reactions.

Students could refer to the concept maps during class and at home to help them organize their thoughts and work through problems.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases mapping skills, Helps organizational skills

Strengths:
Slight learning curve to the system but easier to use than some other concept mapping software I have used in the past.

Very effective for students and they found the maps to be very useful.

Very effective for linear thinkers and linear material.

Weaknesses:
Learning curve involved in use.

More difficult to create organized charts for abstract topics.
