My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Biology / AP Biology

Topic I was teaching:
Cell Structure, also appropriate for many other specific metabolic process that take place within the cell.

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
To be able to visualize complex metabolic processes in an engaging and virtual (so real!) manner

Course Level:
A.P., Honors or Advanced, Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
I love this short version video as an introduction to the cell. After we commence our exploration of the cell, I show it again. This time it is more that a biological balet. They begin to see cellular processes really happening and are excited to be able to recognize cellular events. We can also view the longer and narrated version at this point.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides a virtual lab, Increases access to scientists, Provides practice or tutorial, Provides additional content, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
If you log onto http://aimediaserver.com/studiodaily/videoplayer/?src=harvard/harvard. swf&width=640&height=520
you'll get a full screen sized image.

It is so captivating!

Weaknesses:
The short version plays out to cool tech music but does not give an explanation of what is being shown. The longer viersion (available at http://multimedia.mcb.harvard.edu/) is narrated. Be prepared for LOTS of information!!
