My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Physics

Topic I was teaching:
Magnetism, Electrostatics, Relativity, etc.

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
I use Hyperphysics to send my advanced students in the direction of more information, and to remind myself of things I have forgotten since college

Course Level:
A.P., Honors or Advanced

How I/my students used the resource:
Hyperphysics is an online information source set up like a concept map. You can quickly get to any topic in physics that you are interested in. It then provides a quick summary of the topic, with the math at the calculus level, with links to relevant other topics.

Value Added:
Increases mapping skills, Increases student engagement and motivation, advanced information easily accessible

Strengths:
If you know you know it (or knew it once), but don't know where to look for it; it is easily findable using hyperphysics. If you are looking for a way for a student to organize information for herself, it is also an excellent example of a concept map. For a student who does not want to slog through the textbook it is an exciting and concise presentation of the relevant information.

Weaknesses:
The math level is in calculus, making it somewhat useless for lower level classes. Many students who need to read more in a calm env. (or process info slowly) will find it boggling. "Look something up on HyperPhysics" is not a useful way of getting students to understand information... though a few will appreciate knowing of its existance!
