Virtual labs, covering topics ranging from one-dimensional motion to special relativity, augment any physics instructor's toolkit. Students can discover the principles of orbits and conduct a mission to Mars; see wave superposition and create stringed instruments; and much more. The per-student cost is $29.95, or $199.00 for equipping a typical computer lab.

Media: Software
Cost: $299 installed on any 35 school-owned, on-site computers. Additional CDs must be purchased for installation on multiples of 35 computers. There is no limit to the number of students who use these computers.
Subjects: Physics
Types: Visualization or Animation, Graphing, Modeling, or Mapping, Virtual Lab
Description
of resource:
This lab allows students to apply Newton's Laws to a helicopter in flight. They see how a net force causes an object to accelerate, how an object in motion stays in motion, and how speed affects air resistance. In the process, they rescue stranded people and play with a helicopter.
