My rating of this resource: *****

My experience using this resource:
Advanced Biology

Topic I was teaching:
DNA, the genetic code, and protein synthesis.

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
To teach students about DNA, the genetic code and how it was discovered, and protein synthesis in a student-centered/self-guided and exciting way.

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced

How I/my students used the resource:
Students worked through the "Code" module in groups of two at their tables using our school laptops while I circulated the room asking prompting or answering student generated questions.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides a virtual lab, Increases access to scientists, Provides practice or tutorial, Provides additional content, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
The quality of the content is top notch. The imformation provided comes directly from the top scientists in the field including Nobel laureates. Students really enjoy and learn from the animations as well as getting a chance to hear directly from the scientists what they were thinking as they performed their experiments.

Weaknesses:
It does take good classroom management skills and a good working environment to insure that all students remain on task since they are working in pairs at individual computers.
