My rating of this resource: ***

My experience using this resource:
Earth Science (jr/sr elective)

Topic I was teaching:
geology

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
overall course goal is to see how physical and chemical principles can be used to understand the structure and history of the Earth

Course Level:
Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
I use in class to project figures and animations

Some students may use for review purposes

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Provides practice or tutorial, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
Animations are particularly useful to show dynamic processes

Projecting figures on the SmartBoard is easier (and better quality) than trying to draw them by hand

Weaknesses:
All text is also read as a voice-over
Random access is inconvenient
Not all textbook figures are available
Some animations and sound effects are distracting rather than helpful
Doesn't interface well with SmartBoard for annotation
