My rating of this resource: *****

My experience using this resource:
biology - any level

Topic I was teaching:
study skills, information organization

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
-to have students be able to show meaning and relationships among key terms/concpets

Course Level:
A.P., Honors or Advanced, Intro or Regular, Remedial

How I/my students used the resource:
I have a hard time with assignments like: "Read pages 1-10 and Do the Vocab" (an assignment that always seemed useless to me as a student because most students skipped the reading and went straight to the glossary).
Instead, I ask my students to "Read pages 1-10 and concept map the key vocabulary/concepts - showing both meaning and relationships among those key terms.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases mapping skills, Increases modeling skills, Provides practice or tutorial, Provides assessment opportunity, Increases student engagement and motivation

Strengths:
A wonderful way to generate graphic organizers for those visual learners in your class!
The vast symbol pallette allows pictures to enhance the "idea bubbles" of the concept map.
A concept map (that may be too abstract/random to the concrete/sequential learner) can easily be converted to a traditional outline with a click of a button!

Weaknesses:
none - I love this software!!
