My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Conceptual Chemistry

Topic I was teaching:
Organization of matter

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
To have students make relationships between the vocabulary words used in the organization of matter.

Course Level:
Intro or Regular

How I/my students used the resource:
We took all the vocabulary words and one was chosen at random and placed as the central idea. Students then created concept maps that showed the relationship, or not, of all the other words. Each student then had to justify their map to the class.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases mapping skills, Increases modeling skills, Access to other student work or data, Provides practice or tutorial

Strengths:
I am working to add this to more of my lessons either as a supliment or as a direct tool. I would hope that students might take the initative to use this for studying and for taking notes. I think this will be a good tool for students to use to learn the process of problem solving.

Weaknesses:
Students can get lost in making it "pretty" rather than valuable. Students who are linear thinkers have difficulty with the more creative aspect of the program
