My rating of this resource: ****

My experience using this resource:
Chemistry

Topic I was teaching:
Nuclear Chemistry

My learning goal for which this resource was used:
Help students to gain a better understanding of nuclear reactions. Help students to model the behavior of unstable isotopes and predict the products from the reactions.

Course Level:
Honors or Advanced

How I/my students used the resource:
I used this resource in addition to a powerpoint to help to illustrate the concepts discussed in class. The site was shown on the TV, so it was difficult to have the students interact with the site.

Value Added:
Provides visualization or animation, Increases modeling skills

Strengths:
The site has good content, sometimes lacking in detail. The site is usable expecially with the flash animations. It was also somewhat useful as a learning tool to reinforce concepts discussed and to help students to link the visual animation of the reactions to predicting the products of reactions.

Weaknesses:
The site is limited as there is only one animation for each topic. The animations are also fixed in the pattern that they follow, this means that they cannot always be paused in order for the instructor to explain or elaborate on a concept that is being demonstrated.
